What we stock

Six departments, and two of them nobody else near here has.

The lumber and the hardware are the reason you drive in. The paint matching and the blade sharpening are the reason you stop driving to Liberty. Both of those are on the counter here, both are same or next day, and neither one appears on the co-op locator page that is currently the only thing about this yard on the internet.

PLACEHOLDER: racks of dimensional lumber in a covered yard shed, 2x4 and 2x6 stacked by length in labelled bays, a worker pulling a board and sighting down it for crown, forklift in the background

Dimensional and treated lumber

Two by material through 2x12, studs, treated for ground contact, deck boards, posts and timbers, in the lengths people actually build with. It is racked under a roof and out of the weather, and you are welcome to pull your own boards and sight down them, which is the whole reason to buy lumber in person.

priced by the board

PLACEHOLDER: sheet goods racked vertically in a lumber yard, plywood and OSB sheets in a slotted rack, a panel saw mounted on the wall behind with a cut sheet clamped in it

Sheet goods and cutting

Plywood, OSB, treated ply, underlayment and siding panels. We will rip sheets down on the panel saw so they fit in a truck bed or an SUV, at no charge for the first few cuts, which saves people a trailer rental.

cutting included

PLACEHOLDER: paint counter with a computerized colour matcher and a shaker, a customer's chipped paint sample on the counter beside a freshly mixed can, a fan deck of colour cards open

Paint and colour matching

Interior, exterior, stain and primer, and a matcher on the counter. Bring in a chip off the wall, a piece of trim, a cabinet door, or the lid of the old can, and we will match it while you wait. This is the service people do not know we have.

match while you wait

PLACEHOLDER: bench grinder set up for sharpening with a circular saw blade mounted in a jig, mower blades and a chainsaw chain laid out on the bench beside it, sparks and metal dust

Blade and chain sharpening

Mower blades, chainsaw chains, circular saw blades, chisels, planer knives, scissors and knives. Dropped off at the counter, back the next day, and in mowing season we run it every day rather than letting it stack up.

from $7

PLACEHOLDER: tool rental corner of a hardware store, a tiller, a post hole auger, a plate compactor and a floor sander lined up along a wall with laminated rate cards hanging above each one

Tool rental

Tiller, auger, plate compactor, floor sander, carpet stretcher, pipe threader, concrete mixer, log splitter and the ladders that will not fit in a car. Half day, full day and weekend rates, and the weekend rate is one day's money from Saturday morning to Monday morning.

half day from $28

PLACEHOLDER: flatbed delivery truck with a boom unloading a banded unit of lumber onto a residential build site, a framed floor deck and stacked joists in the background, gravel drive

Delivery and job site drops

Boom truck delivery of lumber, sheet goods and treated material to a build site or a driveway, inside about thirty miles. Order it the day before and it can be on site before your crew is, which is usually the point.

free over $600

PLACEHOLDER: hardware store front counter with a fastener bin wall behind it, a scale, a roll of brown paper, order pads on a spike, and a coffee pot on a shelf at the end

Contractor accounts are open on thirty day terms once we have a signed application, and yes there is a contractor price on lumber, in volume. Special orders on anything the co-op catalog carries come in on the Tuesday and Friday truck, so an order placed Monday morning is here Tuesday afternoon. Returns on uncut lumber are fine with a receipt inside thirty days, cut material is yours. Prices here are illustrative for this preview.

The yard

A covered yard, a panel saw, and somebody who will load it for you.

Worth knowing before you drive in: the yard is open at 7:30 on weekdays, which is early enough to load before a crew starts, and it is open Sunday afternoon from one to five, which almost nothing else in this county is. Those two hours are the reason a lot of people started coming here.

PLACEHOLDER: the covered lumber shed from the drive-through aisle, bays labelled by size, a pickup pulled up to the treated lumber bay with the tailgate down
Pull in, load up, we will help
PLACEHOLDER: paint counter mid-match, a lid from an old paint can under the scanner and a freshly shaken quart on the counter with a dab of colour on the lid for comparison
Matching a colour off an old can lid
PLACEHOLDER: sharpening bench with a stack of mower blades tagged with customer names and a chainsaw chain in the jig, clean sharpened blades on a rack behind
Blades in on Tuesday, out on Wednesday
PLACEHOLDER: storefront and yard from the road, gravel lot with contractor trucks parked, the hardware building with a wide porch and a rack of propane cages at the side
The lot, on a normal weekday morning
PLACEHOLDER: the owner at the yard counter with an order pad, a tape measure on his belt and a pencil behind his ear, fastener bins and a wall of hand tools behind him

The yard

Family run, five years in, and stubborn about hours.

Owner name goes here opened this yard in 2021, which in a business where the nearest competitors are a big box thirty minutes away and a co-op the next county over is either brave or stubborn. The way an independent yard survives that is service the box store will not do: matching a paint colour off a chip, sharpening a stack of mower blades overnight, cutting a sheet down so it fits in a car, and answering the phone at 7:30 in the morning when a crew is standing around waiting on an answer.

The reason this page exists is that the only thing currently representing this yard online is a co-op locator page we do not control and cannot edit. It lists the address. That is all it lists. It does not say the yard opens at 7:30, or that we are open Sunday afternoon, or that we sharpen, match paint, rent tools and deliver. Everything above this line is the part the locator page leaves out.

Owner name goes here, Richmond

Ray County and about thirty miles out.

The yard

123 Main St
Richmond, MO 64085

Gravel lot with room to turn a trailer, and the lumber shed is a drive-through aisle so you can pull alongside the bay you are loading from. Somebody will load it with you. The hardware store side has a concrete ramp at the porch and a wide door.

Hours

  • Monday to Friday7:30 to 6
  • Saturday8 to 5
  • Sunday1 to 5

The 7:30 open on weekdays and the Sunday afternoon hours are deliberate and they are not going to change. If you need something loaded before 7:30 for a crew, call the day before and we will have it banded and waiting by the gate. Deliveries go out in the morning and mid afternoon, and an order placed by four o'clock goes on the next morning's run.
